"When Fortuna spins you downward, go out to a movie and get more out of life. Ignatius was about to say this to himself; then he remembered that he went to the movies almost every night, no matter which way Fortuna was spinning."

picture session
new lesson learned today- do not give your picture to a little chinese girl, this is what could happen. this first one is amazing!
Even though the girl was very clever and sweet to make these nice photos for you, I have to reveal the secret that it's actually pretty simple and easy to make these with a Chinese(?) software nEO iMAGING. They have ready made frames with even multiframes for a photo collage. This software can be found in English but then you need to register to a Chinese forum and download frames by yourself. I learned by using the English version but I've been using the Chinese one for years and downloaded hundreds of frames even though I can't read Chinese but I'm obsessed of photo decorating. :D There are many online sites in Chinese where you can make these. One is called Conew. Maybe someone has heard the Western websites PhotoFunia or Photo505 to make something similar online but not as cute. I do jealous Chinese people because they have these awesome dress up photo studios and they can have cool wedding and b-day etc. photo albums. You should try some studio in Dalian.
I've been reading your blog since spring once in a while. I'm a Finnish woman maybe about your age who has spend four summers in Dalian just visiting Dalianese boyfriend as a tourist. Now planning to apply to study Chinese in Dalian for spring semester if my financial situation is good. You are a very strong young woman and very independent to teach 1000 students in four different schools! Enjoy your life in Dalian and keep up the good work!
Haha! Peg Leg you're the most clever to put down in one sentence what I meant. I'm an evil, jealous big girl. :D The pics are lovely because the model in the photos is cute. Miss Church should give her more pics. Those photos are such a nice memory of her living in China.
Now that I remember I had made lots of pics with Photoshop and nEO iMAGING and my Chinese boyfriend's big sister started asking me how to decorate pics of her daughter and I had to download the Chinese software and introduce how it works even though I don't speak Chinese. Lol! Anyway, thank you Chinese for making me interested in photo editing by making me jealous with your extremely decorated pics.
Are you leaving China already? :( I hope someone has introduced you the prettiest places in Dalian. In Xinghai Square where all the restaurants are there is this bridge you need to cross you'll come across some plastic palm trees with green lights and behind the restaurants there is a little square with light columns which used to change color at least in 2008. Have you seen the white little castle style building in Dalian where is probably some Thai restaurant or cafe? That is cute. Have you gone to Jinshitan by metro to walk the path near the golf course to see the sea and millions of years old rocks? Have you been to Changbai mountain to see the volcano lake near North-Korean border? That I'd like to visit. I haven't seen any pics on your website about the rose garden in Labour Park. There is the big football and at the top of the hill there is a place where you can see the nightview of Dalian. Have you been to the Tiger Beach? I'm interested in every place because I'm from Lapland and we have nothing but nature here, no interesting man-made buildings. Whole China is full of wonderful places and amazing views. I wanna return soon!
I have been to all those places except for Changbai mountain which I regret not making it to (it's getting too cold to go there now). there are many interesting places everywhere, sometimes i think people just don't realize that they're interesting when they live there :)
Victoria, we all know you photoshopped these yourself.
ReplyDeletethe girl did do a good job. my mom thought the first one was actually a new advertisement at the airport..
