a good explanation for why i don't bother with traditional grammar conventions, such as capital letters:
it was five days after the winter solstice, one month after a joyless birthday in a crowded Arby's booth, three years after she left me. foraging for forgotten coins on a frozen beachhead, i came upon the remains of a great beast, flesh stripped of meat by scavengers, bones tattered by the strength and salt of the ocean's waves. The was great majesty in its ruin.
If I found a whale washed up like that, and the flesh had already been taken by the scavengers, I would feel no sense of majesty. Only Dissappointment.
When you live under the oppressive rule of Chinese Communist Party like li zhong or the under the despotic burden of guilt like myself, no day is truly free.
